We had a fabulous first two weeks in 2nd grade! We have been working on classroom routines and academic expectations. I am pleased with the diligent work that went into making the initial two weeks a win. Class updates will be in Class Dojo.
This week we: Math: reviewed Math Workshop expectations, Number Talk expectations, and making ten strategies. We will move into place value next week. Writing: reviewed Writing Workshop expectations. Students created writing offices made out of file folders to use as resource when writing. Reading: reviewed Reading Workshop expectations and iPICK strategies for selecting books to read (student received iPick bookmarks). Our class visited the Media Center for orientation and to check out books. Science: introduced physical properties of matter. *We will alternate between Science and Social Studies lessons every few weeks. IB Central idea: “Changing physical properties may affect classifications.” We have introduced this idea with classifying and sorting activities in class. Students can enhance their understanding of this central idea by classifying and sorting at home as well as noticing patterns. Comments are closed.
