This week, we are:
Math: using addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one step and two step word problems using drawing and an equation for the unknown number. We will work on word problems for the next few weeks. Writing: writing rough drafts, editing, and publishing opinion writing. Reading: comparing and contrasting two or more version of the same story from different authors or different cultures. Reading levels will still be assessed this week for mid-quarter check-ins. Language Arts: spelling irregular plural nouns- sheep, deer, teeth, women, dozen, traffic, moose, geese, oxen, mice. IB Central Idea: Strong leaders affect change. We will are describing the leadership of Juliette Gordon Low and Jimmy Carter this week. Important Information: Performing Arts Field Trip: On Thursday, February 14, 2nd grade will take a field trip to watch a ballet. Students can dress nicely or wear standard attire. We will eat lunch from the cafeteria and exchange valentine’s when we return that afternoon. Dress Down for $1: This Friday, February 15! Winter Break: No school next week due to Winter Break! Parents Night Out: Parents, you deserve a Friday night out! Leave the childcare to the Teasley Staff where your kids will enjoy a pizza dinner (two slices, drink, & dessert) and a fun-filled night of games, arts & crafts, a glow party, and more! The event will take place on Friday, March 1st from 6:00PM – 9:30 PM. The cost is $25 per student and is for Teasley K-5 students only. Space is limited, so please register by February 15th by returning the registration form that was sent home with your student. No late registrations will be accepted. Additional pizza, snacks, drinks, and glow items will be available for purchase. All items will be sold for $1.00 - $2.00 each. Thanks for your support! Language Arts: spelling regular plural nouns with -s and -es endings (spices, acorns, apples, dishes, classes, boxes, watches, ponies, cities, boxes). We will also explore adverbs this week in comparison to adjectives. IB Central Idea: Strong leaders affect change. We will are describing the leadership of Jackie Robinson & Juliette Gordon Low this week. Important Information: Performing Arts Field Trip: On Thursday, February 14, 2nd grade will take a field trip to watch a ballet. This field trip does not require additional payments or chaperones. Please return the orange permission form as soon as possible. Valentine’s Exchange: If your student wants to participate in the activity, please send in a Valentine for all students in the class.
