This week, we are:
Math: fluently adding and subtracting within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction. We will review this standard for the next 3 weeks. Students are able to pick their favorite strategies to show their understanding. Writing: planning an informational writing (how-to) piece. We will practice one piece altogether and then allow students to pick their own topic for their expert writing. Reading: describing how words and phrases give rhythm and meaning in a story, poem, or song. Language Arts: using apostrophes in contractions and spelling R-controlled words (star, mart, market, start, party, shark, spark, garlic, scar, until, left). The last two words are sight words. Social Studies: describing how Creek and Cherokee American Indians used the land in Georgia. IB Central Idea: Living things adapt in their environment. Important Information: Early Release: The remainder of this week is Early Release due to conferences. Teasley’s Performing Arts Day is on January 18th this year, and we need volunteers to present and perform for homeroom classes.
